She never treated Logan like a celebrity or a headline. She treated him like a tired son sitting beside his mother’s bed.

One night, Logan walked by the nurses’ station and saw Olivia wiping her eyes quickly, looking at her phone.

“Is something wrong with my mother?” he asked, alarmed.

Olivia shook her head. “No, she’s doing better than yesterday. This is… personal. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be crying on the job.”

“If it’s a money problem, I can help,” he said automatically. “That’s the one thing I know how to fix.”

She gave a small, sad laugh. “Not everything is about money, Mr. Barrett. My dog passed away today. Fifteen years with me. I had to come here anyway and smile for everyone. It’s just catching up with me.”

Logan sat down beside her. “I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I never had a dog. My mom said we couldn’t afford the mess.”

“You missed out,” Olivia replied, eyes still shining. “They don’t care who you are or what you own. They just love you. Simple as that.”

They talked for a while—about little things, not court cases or company matters. He told her about cleaning offices with his mom as a teenager. She told him about wanting to specialize in geriatric care but not knowing how to pay for the program.

For the first time in a long while, Logan found himself talking to a woman without trying to impress her. He was just… himself.

And she listened.

One Year Later: Rich in What Matters
The trial came and went like a storm on the evening news.

The recordings from Logan’s system—Sienna’s words, Tyler’s actions, Wallace’s speech—were impossible to argue with. Wallace cut a deal, describing every step of their plan. Tyler tried to blame Sienna; she tried to blame everyone but herself.

In the end, the judge handed down long sentences to both of them. The press talked about greed, betrayal, and technology for weeks.

Logan didn’t bother to attend most of the hearings. He had already heard enough.
